Your personal year number for 2027, and what each of the nine years means
Numerology runs in nine-year cycles. Add your birth day and month to the year and you get the theme of the year ahead. How to work it out, and a plain reading of years 1 to 9.

How to calculate it
Add together your birth day, your birth month and the year you want to look at, then reduce to a single digit.
Example: born on 14 August, looking at 2027:
- Day: 1 + 4 = 5
- Month: 8
- Year: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11 → 2
- Total: 5 + 8 + 2 = 15 → 6
So 2027 is a personal 6 year for anyone born on 14 August.
A useful shortcut: 2027 reduces to 2, so your 2027 number is simply your birth day + birth month + 2, reduced. For 2026, which reduces to 1, it is birth day + birth month + 1.
When the year begins
Western numerology starts the personal year on 1 January. Many Indian numerologists start it on your birthday. Both are in use; the themes blend in the months between.
The nine years
1 — Beginnings. Plant seeds. New jobs, new projects, new habits. Act on your own initiative.
2 — Patience and partnership. Things grow slowly. Cooperation, relationships and diplomacy matter more than force.
3 — Expression. Creativity, social life, learning and communication. A lighter, more visible year.
4 — Foundations. Hard work, routines, property and health. Build the structure that later years will rest on.
5 — Change. Travel, movement and surprises. A good year to adjust course; watch impulsiveness.
6 — Home and responsibility. Family, marriage, children and duties to others. Often a year of settling down.
7 — Reflection. Study, spiritual practice, research and rest. Less outward progress, more inner clarity.
8 — Results. Money, career and authority. Effort from the earlier years is rewarded; so is discipline.
9 — Completion. Let go of what is finished. Clear out, forgive, travel and prepare for the next 1.
Using it well
The personal year is a theme, not a forecast. It is most useful for pacing yourself: pushing hard in a 1 or an 8, consolidating in a 4, slowing down in a 7, and closing chapters in a 9.

Common questions
My numbers are 11 or 22 — should I reduce them? Some numerologists keep 11 and 22 as "master numbers". Most Indian numerologists reduce them to 2 and 4.
Does the personal year override my mulank? No. Mulank is your nature; the personal year is the season you are passing through.
